It was the biggest rotenone project in the history of Earth at the time (May stay that way🤷🏼♂️). The big cutties are
essential. The question is, how many mature cutties are killed by catch-and-release bait fishing m that extends because the limit isn’t filled, compared to how many would be killed with a small limit that would end fishing for the day.
I’m sure they’ve done research on this and are probably trying to do what benefits the fishery most, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they have inadequate data on how many fish are released and eventually die, to make a truly informed decision.
