If Votto has 3 more good years, he could have similar numbers to Larry Walker
And though Votto has the ballpark factor, it's not going to be as big as an argument as it was with Walker.

Walker
72.7 WAR in 17 seasons, .313/.400/.565/.965, 2,160 hits, 383 HRs, 1311 RBIs, 6 gold gloves, 1 MVP award, another top 5 finish, a third top 10 finish.

Votto
62.0 WAR in 13 seasons, .307/.421/.519/.941, 1,866 hits, 284 home runs, 944 RBIs, 1 gold glove, 1 MVP award, 2nd place ROY, two more top 3 MVP finishes, plus three other top 10 MVP finishes.

Walker's higher in most metrics, but he also played four more seasons. If Votto can get three decentish seasons, he might have similar hits, home runs and RBI numbers and could get his WAR higher. Where Walker is better is in a more complete game with more gold gloves and more stolen bases (he had nearly 300). But Votto had more top 5 and top 10 MVP finishes.

Walker barely got in. I could see Votto as another guy whose case will get better over time. But like you said, I think he needs a couple more good years, and he's already 35 and his numbers have declined significantly.
