Some can afford it, some can't, but still have it
I'm seeing people all over the place in my neighborhood sell their current houses with the equity growth to move into bigger houses with a similar mortgage due to the low rates. My neighborhood house prices range from 350-550.
I know of a number of people who are house poor though, even in really high paying jobs because they bought their first house at 500k+. Sad to see that, they can afford it now, if anything goes wrong they lose everything.
