Martins Cove/Independence Rock, Devils Tower (only need 2 hours max), and while
you're close to Rushmore make sure you visit Reptile Gardens. It's right down the road and the best Non-Rushmore thing in the area.

Another place I enjoyed visiting was the Black Thunder Coal mine in Wyoming. Very impressive. Not sure if they are open
