Mt. Rushmore is cool, but Black Elk Peak, Sylvan Lake, Needles Eye Tunnel area,
Custer State Park, the Cathedral Spires, etc. are the real highlights in that immediate area.

Another place I enjoyed visiting was the Black Thunder Coal mine in Wyoming. Very impressive. Not sure if they are open
