Minimum recommended time for IF is 18 hours fasted 6 hour eating window.
There are lots of people that lose weight with IF. I did it for 4 months and felt I was getting too skinny. I now do it 2-3 times a week to maintain.
My wife is pretty thin but swears by IF as well.
