Win or lose, Cincinnati is in the NY6...
There is no other G5 that will be ranked higher then them. If Cincy loses to BYU, they fall to 12th or 14th are worst. They are still in a NY6 bowl game.
BYU has the far greater risk in this game... because we lose, we are playing in the Potato bowl with 1 freaking loss. Win... we are in the same position as before with a little bit of a better chance to make the NY6 game.

There is another reason for both schools to do it. It guarantees that they are not playing each other in NY6 game.
