And it's not just some "small sports reporter in Seattle". Bruce Feldman is known by everyone in the college sports world. And although he may have started this mess, he's not the only one that has picked up on it now. When Herbstreit, Fox Sports analysts, ESPN personalities, AP voters, major national media pundits, Around the Horn, PTI, College Football Live, etc have all covered this story, you don't think the committee members will at least know about it? They don't bury their heads in the sand, even if they don't have the full story.
Look, I'm not saying it will drop us multiple spots. But it can easily drop us a spot. If they're looking at #10 and trying to decide between BYU and Oregon or someone else, this can definitely make enough of a difference between a single spot. Their talk track would be "You know, BYU is 9-0 and Oregon is only 3-0; but that's not Oregon's fault their conference has only allowed them to play 3 games so far and BYU seemed scared to play UW. Ugh, I could go either way on this. This is hard. But let's go with Oregon for #10 and put BYU at 11".
If you honestly don't think that's a possibility here, I don't know what else to tell you.
