SOS is 81 with the one the CFP committee uses. Cincy SOS is 76. No justified

Exactly. They may say SOS is the reason, but it's not. It's because BYU as an independent is not G5.

It's a bad SOS to be sure. But other teams with similarly bad SOS have made NY6 games in years past.

Western Michigan had a similar SOS in 2016. 13-0 and topped at #15 in the committee rankings.

Which is pretty dang accurate to where BYU is if you believe their SOS is 108.

And in 2018, UCF was ranked #8 with a SOS of 104, which is pretty comparable to BYU this year, IMO.
