2 situations come to mind
1. I found out that I had a long-lost cousin. We were dining at a restaurant while driving through Wyoming, and I saw my dad whispering into my mom's ear about something. Later, he shared with me that our server was my cousin (on my mom's side). The girl looked a lot like some of my cousins from that side of the family, so it came as no surprise to me. My uncle, who is now a Stake Patriarch (and has been a Bishop, counselor in the Stake Presidency, and counselor in the Temple Presidency), had fathered a child with his girlfriend when they were just out of High School. The girl ended up marrying another man, who legally adopted the baby as his own. My uncle's 5 other children, to my knowledge, do not know about this family "secret" to this day. An Ancestry DNA test in that family could cause shockwaves...

2. My cousin (from my dad's side of the family) grew up thinking that her dad was her biological father. Her dad didn't even know the real truth until after my aunt passed away. Apparently, my aunt had a fling with a guy right before she started dating my uncle, and that guy was my cousin's biological father. My clueless uncle always believed that he was the father because he had also "fooled around" with my aunt. For some insane reason, my dad's other sister felt duty-bound to inform my uncle that he wasn't really the biological father, and it completely crushed him. I don't know what compelled my dad's sister to do that instead of just letting things go. My jaw hit the floor when my dad told me about this.

And a bonus story....not about my family. A girl that was in my graduating class was raised by her grandma because this girl's mother committed suicide when she was young. The young mother was never completely straight about who this girl's father was, and the family was lead to incorrectly believe who the father could have been. Last year, this friend of mine took an Ancestry DNA test, and when she got the results back, they told her that another girl in our HS class was her half sister. On top of that, there was another girl in our HS class that was her first cousin. My friend (who was not looking for any type of relationship) tried to contact the biological father to inform him of this discovery, and ended up speaking to his wife. The wife denied up and down that this was even possible and that her husband could not have had a relationship with this girl's mother. My friend simply replied back, "Well maybe they didn't have a relationship, but they definitely had sex!"
