He was divorced and ended up marrying a woman from Utah. He decided to keep his practice in CA because, as he put it, “Utahns have big families, so if their pet gets sick and care will cost a lot, they just tell you to go ahead and let it die. Californians are more willing to spend a lot of money to save their pets.”
