Colin's schtick is to find slightly contrarian ways to bet on the big guy

It works out for him a lot, too. Colin loves being right when everyone else is wrong, and he does it by looking for opportunities like this.

This opinion is nothing more than a good opportunity for Colin to be "right" for the next 3 years. Right now, the hype around Wilson is ridiculous. No one, and I mean no one is saying that Wilson might not work out, and some people are actually suggesting that Wilson is better than Lawrence.

For Colin, this is a no brainer. He's thinking "Hmmm... We've got a QB on a Mountain West-caliber team. The QB has a ton of hype and is likely to go to a sucky team and crash and burn. If I vocally and repeatedly push back on this now, I'll be 'right' for the next 3 years every time we talk about the NY Jets. The smart bet is to push Lawrence and get on the record as pumping the brakes on Wilson."

And so you'll see this pattern; he's already brought it up several times and it will come up several more times within the next week. Colin's just making sure he's on the record as not being high on ZW so that he can be "right" for the next few years.

If he's right, you're going to hear all about it. If he's wrong, he'll own it a little bit (i.e.: "I had my doubts and he proved me wrong") and then Colin will move on.

Kind of a smart position for him to take, IMO. There are a ton of unknowns and excuses surrounding Wilson, and he's likely to go to a dysfunctional dumpster fire of a team, anyway. ZW is probably overrated right now and will likely be set up to fail regardless. Calculated risk on Colin's part so that he can be "right" when everyone else was wrong.
