You did overcome it and it is not the norm. The facts are there, BYU grads average a better salary etc. Could some at UVU make more? Sure. Is that the norm, no.
Just being honest, if you said UVU out East no one would know what you are saying. They know BYU, Utah, Oregon, Washington, USC, Colorado etc. UVU is not on their radar.
An example: do kids from Chico State become successful (financial and career)? Possibly. Is it harder than having a degree from USC? Yes. Degree is not everything, but yes it helps getting your foot in the door.
