You should subtly manipulate him into leaving.

Then he’ll leave, everyone will be like “you must be the best person in the world to work with if you were able to deal with that guy” - then maybe you catch the attention of the new boss who is super attractive or something and then you guys strike up a relationship.

I dunno. Seems worth a try.
