Yep. BA was a much more formidable defensive matchup on him than was TJ.
TJ became a pretty decent & hardnosed defender by the end of the 2019-20 season, but he got off to a slow start (& was a pretty poor defender in his first three years of college). TJ woulda presented Rylan a clearly harder challenge in February than he offered up in December.
But Averette was always a better defender than TJ at his absolute best. AB too.
