The price gouging was started by Apple and Samsung followed. And for that reason

I will always resent Apple. Apple in general is way overpriced for what you are getting. You can get a much more powerful PC for much less than the price of a top of the line Mac. With Apple you're in general paying more for less, and I have a fundamental problem with that as I buy technology for its function and not as a fashion statement.
