-plined" is "discipline". You're not trying to "beat a child" if you spank them, you're trying to teach them discipline, self-control, respect for others, etc. I spanked my kids occasionally, sometimes I put them in a corner with their face against the wall or other things. But different kids respond differently to various forms of disciplining. If anyone thinks that spanking is always a no-no they are, I believe, being one-sided in their perspective. All I know is I'm raising 4 kids and one of them is a married Air Force pilot, one is a wife & homemaker to 2 beautiful kids, one is finding his way through college now and is paying his own way while doing it and the youngest will graduate in a week as the #6 academic kid in her class of over 400 and on her way to BYU. All are very active in the Church and never gave me a lick of trouble.
