thought I might have discovered my brother here on CB, but we had 6 kids in our family. 
That red paddle struck the fear of the Almighty in us as kids. 
I now have it in my house.

Never in a million years would I ever expect anyone else on CB to have the red Val Hyric paddle in their childhood.

For those interested (and still reading), it was the paddle from when my dad pledged his fraternity at BYU. (What a strange tradition that was - get paddled by your future frat brothers while pledging.) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
