Phone idea might lead to a terrible backlash if you hadn’t discussed it before

I always create and discuss the consequences before the rule is broken rather than making something up on the spot. Better yet, you can have your daughter help come up with the consequence as you describe to her why the rule is important and why you need her to call.

You could even consider a warning this time if you wanted to be benevolent.
