Behavior.

If the punishment doesn’t fit the crime then the thought becomes “well im already late (or going to be late) so I’m going to be grounded for a week so might as well enjoy this next hour or 2.

Communication is key. My mom sat down with me and explained how much parents worry about their kids, she said she knew I didn’t understand at the time but that that was why they had rules. But, in the end every child is different. Good luck
