Two players are about 15 yards apart (in my case it was my u10 son and me). Player A (your son) kicks the ball to player B (you) and then aggressively follows his pass — breaking down as he gets to Player B. Player B receives the pass and must keep control of the ball by shielding off player A for 5 seconds. Player B can't dribble way, but must maintain control within a 1-2 yard area. Player A can push and shove to get the ball away (i.e. make legal contact). After 5 seconds, the round is over and you do it again. After 5 of these, you switch rolls. Your son must block you....
It has worked for my son. That said, some kids will never be uber aggressive. But, teams need those types of players too.
