Aggregate metrics are nice and should be factored in more than they are, but I can understand why BYU took a hit for it.

I think on a full week's prep BYU definitely beats Coastal. It was strange circumstance, but difficult for committee to ignore the fact BYU had zero top 25 wins.

I think with 12 playoff teams, BYU wouldn't have taken the risk and played coastal on such short notice. They don't play the game, they go undefeated and possibly make it into the playoffs.

I think it was the program's hail mary to get an outside shot at the playoff and secure NY6 bowl.
