I couldn’t disagree with this more ...
The “doctors” who work for the insurance companies are whores. They’re bought and paid for. They have zero credibility. The legal community and medical community know they have no credibility, and even the insurance carriers know the doctors they hire for record reviews and IMEs are whores. That’s why the carriers hire them; because their opinions are predictable.

I once subpoenaed from an ortho (who is always being retained by carriers) all of his record review and IME reports for a three year period. Shockingly, he actually provided the reports for hundreds of record reviews and IMEs ...

Every single report said the EXACT thing. “No objective evidence of injury”, “nonorganic pain”, “patient motivated by secondary gain”, etc., etc., etc.

In one case, we sued the first-party insurance carrier for bad faith because the carrier hired one of these whores to do a record review for their own insured’s claim. Based on the record review report, the carrier offered a pittance of $2,000 for my client’s claim.

The case made its way to mediation and the mediator had previously worked as an in-house attorney for one of the largest carriers. When the mediator saw that the carrier hired this known whore to do a record review in a first-party claim, the mediator was confused and shocked.

The case settled for six figures plus at mediation, presumably after the mediator told the carrier they screwed up by hiring the known ortho whore.
