This. We desperately needed his pass-coverage abilities, so he basically played safety (or nickel) for us. Officially,
he was a linebacker, but that's not really the position he played.
If he hadn't focused on pass coverage, he could have shown much more of his LB talent. But it would have hurt the defense to have him do that. The other options at LB were better than the other options at safety, so that's why he was used the way he was used.
Plus I am sure that he has gotten better in the years he's been playing in the league. There's no question that that is also true.

Out of place or not a good fit for our system? I still have to think some of it he has improved in the NFL?
