Just simply responding to Soupie as I didn’t think his analogy really applied
I think Semanya is in a tricky situation. Through no fault of her own, she’s being punished and not allowed to compete. We don’t know what her chromosomes are, any claims there are just guesses. We just know that she has been raised female and happens to have higher levels of testosterone than is typical for females.
I don’t know the right answer, personally I’d let her compete. We should celebrate greatness and I think her ability could help move the sport forward and push other athletes to higher achievements.
Yes someone might get 2nd that would have gotten 1st, but Semanya doesn’t even get to compete. I’d let her compete.

XX or XY. IF a variant, then set some rules for that. But chromosomal sex is the simplest starting point.

It's why ADA doesn't cover blind pilots or surgeons. At some point you must be able to perform the task.
