Jones really comes out and emerges as a talented multi-instrumentalist using keyboards, stringed instruments, and different synthesizers, with mandolin and double bass, along with his usual bass guitar. III was a big jump into some folk and acoustic music mixed in with blues and rock. More acoustic guitars and acoustic sound started to come out on III. IMO It's splendid, and far away from Stairway and authentic on its own. Yeah it doesn't have the big hits and hard rock sound. It's different. In a way more folk and acoustic sound join the blues and rock.
