Demise of Big12 would create 7 potential spots to end with 4 16 team conferences
Sorry if already posted, but I have been distracted by this all day and thought putting it on paper would help summarize our opportunity, and also our competition.

As it currently sits
ACC - 15
SEC - 16 (assuming Texas and OU join)
Big 10 - 14
Pac12 - 12

This assumes the Big12 disbands, which may seem silly, but it really just depends on the investment of the networks and if the left over pieces are better than nothing.

Of course, SEC is full, so no slots open there.

Remaining Teams and probable destination, if any, which primarily is based on location (losely):
West Virginia (ACC)
UCF (ACC)

Iowa State (Big10)
Kansas (Big10/Pac12)
Kansas State (Big10/Pac12)
Oklahoma State (Big10/Pac12)
Cincinnati (Big10)

TCU (Pac12)
Texas Tech (Pac12)
Baylor (Pac12)
Houston (Pac12/ACC?)
BYU (Pac12)
Boise State (Pac12)
SMU (Pac12)

I don't think I missed any, but I could have. These are just potential competition for BYU to get in to a power conference.

All together, if Big12 implodes, then BYU is in competition for 4 spots in Pac12. Sure, you could say it'll never happen, but I think sports are going to continually be separated from the ideals of the school and more closely aligned with opportunity for financial gain.

Of the 4 spots, 2 are easily taken up by 2 Texas schools minimum, just due to market size and football brand (Likely TCU and Texas Tech as they are already ).
BSU is a program NOT on the rise I think anymore, no need to worry about them.
Baylor is in a small market. Not much financial gain there, but they have a recognizable brand.
Houston is a big market, but not large brand recognition or respect across the country.
Kansas schools if any would be Kansas due to basketball, but they are just so bad at football which is the money maker. Big10 could have Kansas join just basketball and then disband the football program.

BYU has a shot, but they would once again be the fringe choice. Hopefully the state of Utah has a little more respect as the market for the area has risen substantially in the last couple years.

If only Pac12 would drop Oregon State, and Washington State. But no one is voting themselves out of free money they don't deserve.
