The same reason we keep hearing the relegation suggestion. There is an appealing symmetry to 4 16-team conferences feeding into a playoff. It is a logical way to do things. But there is no centralized planning committee. Just a bunch of inmates running a chaotic asylum. And I don’t think it’s in the interest of the pac 12 in particular to expand to 16.
