I think Pac 12 could make their media rights more marketable by adding central time zones and becoming the biggest conference out there. If they control everything west of Iowa (except for OU and UT), then it seems their media rights may be perceived to have more value (per school) than it currently has. It could still be a win for Utah and Colorado in terms of money. But riskier than the rest of the current pac 12.
The only other option is the Pac 12 to take the best of the leftovers and hope that adds enough value to make more money later. I don't see any 4 Big 12 teams individually adding value to the pac 12. So it makes more sense to simply not expand if they don't want a super conference.
