I'm not sure what the point is here.
No one wants physical harm to befall Biles. But all of us expected her to assume some of that risk and compete. More to the point, her teammates were depending on her to assume those risks and compete - and there were several other young women who were qualified, had dedicated their lives to gymnastics, and would have done anything for a spot on that team, that all got left behind so that Biles could have a spot. Any number of those young women would have willingly assumed the risks and competed on the world stage.
The risk of injury is always there - and it's no excuse to walk off on your team.
