The problem with almost all reviews, both positive and negative, is that they
lack enough context to be really helpful. For example, somebody writes a review gushing about how restaurant X has the best Reuben sandwich they've ever had. If I were to somehow know that the other Reubens they really like are from Arby's and Denny's, then their opinion gets one level of weight from me. If, however, they regularly eat at Katz's and Zingermann's, then I'm immediately driving to restaurant X for a Reuben.

It goes the other way, too. Somebody writes a review complaining about the inattentive salespeople at a local clothing store. Fine. But if they usually shop at Michael Andrews or Vittone, then I'm sure the service at the local shop is totally adequate for my needs. So unless I can get a handle on your preferences and/or prior experiences, your opinion probably shouldn't influence me as much as it does. Nor mine you.
