member of the BYU marching band for a couple of years in the 2000s. The band definitely underachieves based on how much talent they bring in. I guess you could say it’s the opposite of the football team, lol.

The reason for this is the staff. The staff is not good, but unfortunately they’re just good enough so that nobody really notices/cares enough to do anything about it.

I personally would love to get involved and lend my talents to help them improve in whatever way I can. I have even offered to write music for them in the past and I was basically told “no thanks.” Keep in mind, I’ve been getting paid for years to write for a few different high schools and colleges. I would have done it for free for BYU. They’re just a bunch of stubborn peeps over there. I hope they change the guard soon…it could still be a while though.
