My favorite apartment was a 40 year old complex that put 6 people in 2 bedrooms. It was in the running for cheapest rent for all of Provo.
While there are always a ton of exceptions, I found that the funnest and most down to earth people lived in the cheapest apartments. There was definitely a strong correlation between the the size of ones rent and the size of their sense of entitlement.
Yes, the apartments were old. Yes, the furniture was ugly and worn. Yes, I had to share a 2 bedroom, 1 bath apartment with 5 other guys. Was it annoying at times? Absolutely.
However those are just minor inconveniences compared to sharing an apartment, apartment complex, and ward with a bunch of bratty entitled kids.
Like I said, there are always plenty of exceptions, but I must admit that I generally enjoyed the company of those understood what it means to work and the value of a dollar. They were far more relatable and empathetic.
