Must be living in some nice places (or non-shared rooms) to cost $600-$700

Not really.. My daughters didn't even include WiFi for $650.

Housing by UVU is more expensive than Provo but newer. Places doubling up on

In 2013 me and my 5 roomates each paid $330 a month for shared rooms

But that's not an apples to apples comparison. The landlord assumes greater risk

Riviera and Raintree were both advertising in the $300-400 range in August.

Many BYU housing landlords are basically slumlords

It's the compiled rent for each apt that gets crazy. Say a student pays $450/mo & shares with 6 other people.

Its a pain to manage individual contracts. I don't have BYU housing but one

Not too mention additional risk for doing the Fall/Winter contracts

Right, but students didn't have any other option. They were forced into that scenario by the BYU rules.

Yep, this opens it up so a group of friends can go rent a house in Orem/Provo and split the rent which would be much

Most areas in Provo and Orem are zoned for 3 singles and most decent houses rent

The less expensive, shared contracts are definitely the way to go

You know it. By far the best (and cheapest) complex I lived in at BYU.

I lived there a year too. But mine was 667 down next to Slab pizza so it was bigger & only had 4 people. 🙂
