It's a reflection on the QB situation, with a sophomore QB who appears to be cemented as the presumed started for the next 3 years unless something changes. If a hyped freshman QB sitting behind a sophomore that the team seems exceptionally happy with chooses to transfer, that's not some indictment on the program. That's the QB choosing to leave because he sees his opportunity to start as being distant enough to consider other options.
It's also why you see zero Utah fans upset by the news. It's not that Utah fans are happy someone is leaving, it just sort of makes sense given what's happened with the team the last 6-7 weeks.
