Matt is going to have a good core of his viewers in the exact demographic that I have, which is actually a really good one. Then he's going to have a lot of crossover because his channel is well done and has a lot of crossover appeal. This crossover demographic is arguably cheaper in value, but still provides value.
Next, many of his shows are going to be streamed on the TV, it's much less likely to be adblocked and people are more tolerant of ads (and youtube also sends out the nice 10 second unskippable ads) before viewings. These are $$ views.
Just going off my analytics, I'd be surprised if he made less than $3,000 for 500,000 views, possibly more. If he doesn't, than my channel is far superior to his in dollars-per-view, and I do not believe that's the case.
