I mean, how do you NOT "blindsided" people with a decision you make? Other than

Start bringing up "hey guys, I might be handing it up" like weeks before. But there's issues withe doing that, too.

Yeah, it's a shock and maybe it's more jarring when it gets announced quickly after the decision is made but I don't see how it's really an issue
