I hear that, but I feel it is WAY overstated...
The new Big 12 teams are obviously going to be competitive on the field. That really doesn’t seem to be a question based on performance over the last few years. Yet so many pundits site the lack of “Blue Bloods” in the new Big 12 as a downfall. The New Big 12 has the potential to be a conference that emphasizes real quality in the present as appose to those banking on the glory days of the past. (though BYU will bring some of that as well...)

Times are changing. The way people consume sports content is changing (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook etc)

People like new and exciting content. The reality is American viewers LOVE the idea that Cincy might take down Alabama, Ohio State and Georgia. It is the networks, not necessarily the fans, that continue to beat the drum of protecting the Blue Bloods. I don’t know if that is all true, but it feels true. And if so, the Big 12 is incredibly well positioned for the modern sports content market.
