when they were playing. It is true that Duncan came into a much better and stable situation than KG. Is there a world where KG wins 5 titles and Duncan wins 1? Sure I think that’s certainly a possible hypothetical, but that opens up a lot of doors and really makes it subjective.
I had to create some sort of guidelines to make my list and I chose to value titles(specifically as best player), MVP’s, and 1st team all-nba selections. Not the whole picture, but a large portion, especially for those I never saw play.
Basically it was:
Tier 1 - GOAT tier(Everyone has at least 4 title/4 MVP)
Tier 2 - Generational 🐐 Can say they were best in the league for multiple years in a row. (All have multiple titles and at least 1 MVP)
Tier 3 - These are either tier 2 guys without the longevity or they were lacking in a title/mvp. All have at least a title(as best player) or mvp.
Tier 4 - All time greats that were never the best player in the league and never got a title(as best player) This is where I stick all the elite sidekick title winners(Wade/Pippen)
Certainly some wiggle room, but that’s the general idea for how I placed them
