The dude came running at him and he put his arms out. His arms happened to connect with his neck/face (mostly because he is much taller than the other guy). But I didn't see it as a punch or anything like that. It was a protective move more than anything, IMO. One that almost anyone would have done in the same situation.
I'm curious what the refs think he should have done. He's got a guy running at him. Just allow the guy to attack him? Can't block him, at all?
I suppose they would say he shouldn't have gone for his head (and the rules specifically talk about neck/head) but, again, that height disparity and the speed he was closing in on him really didn't leave much room for anything else.
