Actual course of events

Jaxson Dart entered the portal after it became very likely that Lincoln Riley was bringing Caleb Williams to USC with him. He visited Ole Miss and Oklahoma, high-profile programs with openings for a QB, and (in a bit of a surprise) also BYU, his hometown team, but (with the USC job still potentially open) hasn't yet committed.  Ole Miss and Oklahoma offer a better opportunity but BYU has an outside shot due to other factors.

Jaxson Dart entered the portal after it became very likely that Lincoln Riley was bringing Caleb Williams to USC with him.  BYU was clearly the unquestioned best option and a lock to get him, according to random rumours from unconnected people.  CB rejoices.  But then unsourced reports came that he was looking at Ole Miss and Oklahoma and it was obvious that BYU had no shot so CB despairs.  But wait, then he does go to visit BYU so again we're 100% the clear favorites and a near lock.  Unless Kiffin tweets something, in which case we should definitely abandon all hope.  Except if Dart doesn't sign with Ole Miss within 48 hours of that tweet - in that case, it's not just an expectation that we'll get Dart, it's a birthright.
