I don't know if this has anything to do with his decision but in an interview
with Mitch Harper after the season he said that he tore his hamstring in the first practice after the Wazzu game (IIRC). I wonder if he could reconsider in his recovery time or if it was something else.

I think injuries were used as an excuse. I think he could have played through them. He clearly was pulled against
