I had two close friends who had horrific experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan.
When I mean horrific, I mean truly horrific and not just stressful or being in unsafe and uncomfortable situations. Both are formerly LDS. Both had PTSD bad enough that they were on partial disability and one had occasional debilitating panic attacks.

Both tried psychedelics years after separating from the military, both for fun and for what they considered mental health therapy. I won't say it's strictly due to the drugs, but both are doing significantly better in dealing with PTSD. They're doing well enough that I have considered it for myself and would probably try if I weren't LDS.
