My son (single, 36yo), after 2-3 years of severe anxiety/depression, went through a ketamine infusion treatment process...perhaps 8 treatments last spring/summer, then continued self-treating one evening a week with pills. His first infusion treatment was an exhausting experience for him. He came out of it pretty spaced out. With each treatment he handled them better. It's been and amazing turn-around. He basically couldn't function with his anxiety and depression despite trying a few different medications and counseling. He rarely came out of his room, rarely bathed, never did his laundry, and his room was a total disaster/garbage pit. Any mention of his living conditions, etc. triggered extreme outbursts of anxiety and anger...he was no fun to be around and I was glad to just have him stay in his room all day/night. His counselor recommended the ketamine infusions and I sat through the screening with him and the psychiatrist to better understand what to expect. About 2 months after the ketamine infusions he actively sought employment and now works full-time as a network administrator and is expecting to move out and be on his own again later this year. (Note...If he delays his weekly treatment a day or two he says he can notice some slight anxiety and goes to his room to treat, but other than that, he's had a good experience with it.)
