Personally, I’d rather not have the hassles of owning (even, maybe especially, if I’m renting it out to lower the overall cost of ownership).

I’m of the opinion that I’d rather have vacation experiences with as little hassle as possible. Renting does have some hassle so there’s not really a hassle-free option here but I think the hassles of renting are fewer than the hassles of owning in this case.
