I fell for that too. I bought a 1/2 ton towable trailer. Everyone told me I'd

regret it and would upgrade my tow vehicle to a 3/4 or 1T. I didn't believe them.

After 2 years of "white knuckle" driving, I upgraded my tow vehicle to a 1T. Now it tows like a dream.

My 6800lb travel trailer was well under my tow rating of my vehicle (by several thousand lbs). HOWEVER, when your trailer weighs more than your tow vehicle, you're going to have some white knuckle driving.
