It all depends, again, on how the parents do it. In some cases, homeschooled kids complete their work more efficiently/quickly and have MORE time to engage in after-school activities, resulting in MORE socialization. Kids just sitting in a classroom hearing a teacher lecture aren't necessarily getting socialized as well as you think.
Realize that when you know someone "socially awkward" who was homeschooled, you probably noticed them because they're unusual. Most homeschooled persons you wouldn't ever know ... they are just your colleagues, and are very normal.
