There is absolutely no reason that the Knicks should be this bad. They have almost every built-in advantage to be great, but they seem to find new ways to squander those advantages. They are located in the largest media market in the US and in one of the world's great "magnet" cities, with vast possibilities for players to earn endorsement deals that would dwarf smaller market teams. It should be extremely easy to lure big-name free agents for that very reason. They are an historic franchise in the NBA, in a basketball-crazed city, and should be one of the league's marquee teams. The issue absolutely has to be ownership and management. It seems like they are complacent with being successful on a commercial scale (lots of revenue streams), and don't seem very bothered by the lack of results on the court.
