She came off as hypocritical, or bad at her job with that statement.
This is one reason why hiring a high school coach as your D1 coach is a bad idea. She's not used to making statements to the public and having them analyzed.

I've coached my kids for years. They need other coaches to get them further in the game. Same situation can be seen here
