Apparently it is not uncommon out here. All the good athletes here get hit up. Out public HS is a top academic HS and in football/lax but we lose many kids. Our lax has trailed some other HS's given we have lost more kids to top private schools.

The best of the best leave or have the HS build around them. My son (football is where he is getting recruited) has a lax friend who is exceptional and will get recruited to privates. We lost 3 top OLman to privates going into sophmore year, they are reclassing again.

I am originally from Utah and never lived any of this growing up. Learning process for me. It feels similar to a watered down college recruiting experience. There are downsides too.
